ITZY is a popular South Korean girl group extensively famous for their intensive dance breaks and empowering song messages. The group debuted under JYP Entertainment on February 12, 2019, with their single IT’z Different and comprises five talented members: Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. Upon their debut, ITZY gained massive attention with their single “DALLA DALLA.” The group was the fastest to reach 17.1 million views on the music video. ITZY has released over fifty songs, yet most K-Pop fans avoid the group’s most wholesome tunes because other heavily promoted tracks often trend on social media for longer. Today, we shall dive into the world of MIDZYs and discover those hidden treasures released by the group.

ITZY released their first-ever OST for the show Strong Girl Nam-soon as a group on October 8, 2023. The show is a sequel to the 2016 drama, Strong Woman Do Bong-soon and primarily focuses on the superpowers of the female protagonist. The song begins with “난 포기란 없어 배운 적 없어 첫 발을 내딛어,” which means “I never give up, never learned, taking the first step” symbolising strength and courage. The music video follows the story of Nam-soon and is packed with beautifully curated cinematic shots of galaxies, farmlands, sunrises and sunsets. It is safe to say that the highlight of the OST is the group’s main vocalist, Lia’s high note at 2:19 and the maknae Yuna’s rap at 2:00.

None of My Business

None of My Business was a part of ITZY’s seventh digital album, KILL MY DOUBT; it was released on July 31, 2023, along with the most anticipated track, CAKE. The song focuses on self-doubt and hardships. The track is a summer song with calming visuals throughout the music video. In an interview with the group, Yeji mentioned that they had postponed their comeback after CHECKMATE because they were keen on finding the perfect song. The song is a masterpiece with an equal distribution of lines to each member. The story begins with the self-realization of an emotionally draining relationship that makes them dizzy, even though they are aware of the fact that it is the end. They continue to enjoy their respective lives because it is “None of their Business.”

Boys Like You

The iconic verse “But I look like your mommy?” which took the popular social media application TikTok by storm was a part of ITZY’s refreshing 2010s pop music concept. Boys Like You was released on October 21, 2021, and was a part of their sixth album, CHESHIRE. The single also marked their international debut as it was composed entirely in English. The melodies of the song are catchy, and the lyrics are experimental, especially the chorus and bridge. The group initially received mixed reactions to their sudden change from a girl crush concept to a cute teen love concept. However, the fresh and energetic dance moves gained huge attention. The styling in the song is fantastic and the message is clear “I don’t fall for boys like you.”

Sorry Not Sorry

Sorry Not Sorry was a part of ITZY’s fourth mini album GUESS WHO and was released on April 30, 2020, along with tracks 마.피.아. In the morning. The song perfectly showcases the power of ITZY that lies in their unity. Their facial expressions during the music bank performances are a delight to watch. The energy and stage presence of all five members during the GUESS WHO showcase is immaculate. There was no music video released for this sidetrack.

Nobody Like You

NOBODY LIKE YOU was released on March 9, 2020, and was a part of ITZY’s second mini album IT’z ME. The track is an incredible depiction of friendship and good vibes. The song also introduces us to a different and unique side of ITZY, the real one. They are humble, down-to-earth and genuine. The song represents their friendship and personality they want to share with MIDZYS. The group also released a special selfie cam video for their fans which is why the song is an emotional rollercoaster ride for them and never fails to uplift their moods.

Be In Love

Released on August 17, 2020, Be In Love is a gift by ITZY to their MIDZYs. The song’s sole message is self-love and appreciation. The song is all about promoting self-love and appreciation. The members have expressed their gratitude towards their fans by releasing this honest, beautiful and heartfelt music. The track’s chorus is particularly addictive and has become a major source of nostalgia for fans of pop culture from the 2000s. They continuously try to uplift their moods and make them feel special: “Be in love, we know heart to heart, you feel it too right?” The video is a completion of the group’s fan meetings and animated graphics of each member.
