Korea Tourism Organization is presenting an online engagement initiative called #KXperience powered by BookMyShow to celebrate the spread of Hallyu wave in India by organising some specially curated content. KTO India or Korean Tourism Organization was established in 2008 and has its office in New Delhi, India that handles the Korean travel and tourism related information and caters to activities that promotes and boost the attraction towards South Korea, as a premier Tourism destination. This virtual event takes off on 17th September 2021, and will be conducted till 15th November 2021. Thats right! Its a whole two month of festive bonanza for all the K-Fans out there. When I was new to the K-world, I was very lucky to attend a Korean Fair held by Korea Tourism Organization, India (KTO), at Andaz Hotel, Aerocity, Delhi. With the help of this event, I learned a lot and many unexpected things happened which were beyond my imagination.
Nikhat Parveen (New Delhi), Riya Choudhary (New Delhi), Kaamaakshi Bhat (Zirakpur, Punjab), Shruti Mishra (Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh), Sriadita Emani (Hyderabad, Telangana): Summer Camp? Yes! you heard it right!! In this gloomy pandemic phase, the one essence of summer that we all were missing was to attend a Summer Camp. Fortunately, KHIGH, came up with a digital event called KHIGH Summer Camp. KHIGH is an independent entertainment platform providing coverage of Korean pop and culture related events, news, and trends in India. This event was designed to give the K-lovers an amazing experience to enjoy the Hallyu filled summer in the form of exclusive Fanmeets, workshops, educational content, games, activities, hangout and talent shows.
Madhavi Sutar, Kolhapur, Maharashtra: BTS, a well-known boy-band from South Korea, internationally recognized around the globe for their remarkable performances; whose music echoes throughout the world always replenishing audiences with a sense of optimism, courage and enthusiasm that accentuates the significance of self-love within lives through the medium of their captivating music. The seven-membered much-loved boy-band perpetuates liveliness through their music. The meaning & lyrics of their songs are always energetic and encouraging to listen to. BTS, enthralled the fans globally when they announced the release of their docu-series based movie, Break the Silence, last year in September, 2020. During these reeling times of pandemic and lockdown being imposed in several countries, fans finally got a chance to get a glimpse of BTS and to know more about every member. This movie brings their raw and vulnerable self more closer for fans to connect to.
Diya Jain, (New Delhi), Kaamaakshi Bhat, (Zirakpur, Punjab), Rupali Teresa Kujur, (Ranchi, Jharkhand): On 22nd May 2021, an online vocal workshop was organised by KFANZZ Entertainment where they invited the renowned vocal trainer Mr. Kim Young-min from OTT Entertainment who has worked with groups like SEVENTEEN, NU’EST and many more. This event was made possible by The Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Korea and OTT Entertainment in collaboration with Hallyuism and several other Indian fan bases. Special guests like Siddharth Nagarajan, who holds the Guinness World Record for most drum beats in a minute using drumsticks, also made an appearance in the workshop. Our Contributors, Ms. Diya Jain, Ms. Kaamaakshi Bhat, and Ms. Rupali Teresa Kujur have penned down their review and exprience of attending the event on behalf of Hallyuism.
Sriadita Emani (Hyderabad, Telangana), Sanskriti Pun (New Delhi) and Chandra Joshi (New Delhi): KFanzz Entertainment, is an emerging Event and Public Management start-up based in Hyderabad, that focuses on organising events to increase the relationship and the growing love between India and South Korea. Keeping in mind the pandemic, KFanzz Entertainment recently organised an online Dance Workshop on 25th April 2021. Shrishti Kalwar (Mumbai, Maharashtra), Smiti Iyer (New Delhi), and Madhavi Sutar (Kolhapur, Maharashtra): On 13th June 2021, BTS completed 8 years of their journey in the musical industry. In order to celebrate this occasion, the group organised their 6th Muster, an annual fan-meeting event that marks their anniversary; at Jamsil Stadium, also known as the Seoul Olympic Stadium on 13th & 14th June. The word Muster means an assembly of troops, referring to the meeting between the Bulletproof Boys and their A.R.M.Y (fandom of BTS). The event marked the end of their two week long celebration known as Festa. This year, the fan-meeting event was conducted virtually and was streamed on the online platform due to the pandemic and included diverse elements such as ARMY Signal, ARMY in Echo, and ARMY on Air to connect with the fans. Nearly, 1.33 million fans, from 195 regions attended this two-days paid-event all over the world.

Korea Tourism Organization India held a virtual K-Food Series event, that took place between 1st June and 4th June, including a three day video series on their Instagram TV (IGTV) followed by a quiz day event. Famous Indian Personalities such as Chef Kunal Kapur, Chef Sanjyot Keer, Rocky and Mayur were invited to show how to make different Korean Dishes in this series that will prompt you to try cooking them at your home!
Korean Wave popularly called as “Hallyu” (한류) has gained massive popularity across the world in recent times and India is no different to it. A rapid boom in India can be witnessed in the recent years with rising popularity of K-Pop and K-Dramas among the youth and teenagers that is eventually leading to their interest in other aspects of Korean Culture. The pandemic seems to have also contributed for the shift of people towards consumption of Korean entertainment at large. It is now valid to say that most fans in India are thrilled by it and wish to at least witness everything they see on screen in real life. To sum it up, it is that every Korean wave fan wishes to visit Korea once in their lifetime. Taking this undeniable point into notice, Korea Tourism Organisation and The Hindu presented an online event discussion on the topic “The Rising Korean Wave in India and Its Influence on Post- Pandemic Travel to South Korea.”
