The South Korean entertainment wave or the Hallyu wave has reached the global forefront by transcending all boundaries and among the forces that are prominent in this wave is the versatile actor Lee Min-ho. Lee Min-ho is popular in South Korea as well as around the globe. He is renowned for his roles in iconic dramas such as “Boys Over Flowers,” ” The Heirs,” “The Legend of the Blue Sea,” and “Pachinko”. In India, the streaming platforms having Korean Dramas available on them has led to an increase in his popularity. Indian Minoz specifically the fan club LeeMinHo Lovers India (leeminho_lovers_india), is sorely dedicated to the actor and his fans around the nation. LeeMinHo Lovers India like every year, orchestrated a special event to celebrate Lee Min-ho’s birthday on 22nd June.
LeeMinHo Lovers India Fan club with the help of social media platforms amplified their birthday celebration. Just like the actor, the fan club too has a hallmark tradition of being committed to philanthropy. Every year on his birthday and debut anniversaries they engage in many social services, and charitable activities and even make donations which help in providing meals to the underprivileged and also support the educational initiatives for the orphaned. The fan club is inspired by the acts of kindness of the actor Lee Min-ho himself through his PROMIZ platform, which was established by Lee Min-ho in 2014 to raise awareness and focus on social and environmental causes. Videos, fan art, and heartfelt messages are seen on the timelines of social media platforms showing great admiration and immense love and support for the actor. Lee Min-ho also acknowledges the gifts, campaigns, and loving support of his fans by expressing gratitude towards them.
LeeMinHo Lovers India in previous years has done notable charitable works. In 2022, in celebration of the Boys Over Flower’s superstar, they donated a sum of Indian Rupees ten thousand to WWF-India (World Wide Fund for Nature-India) to protect the Royal Bengal Tigers. Last year they donated to save the Asian Elephants and their conservation. They even adopted a Panda for a year! They have been actively participating in much more needed charity works like funding COVID-19, providing meals in the orphanages, and donating clothes and planting trees. These are some of the remarkable contributions that have not gone unnoticed as they have gained recognition not only within the fan community but also from the actor’s management and the Korean media.
This year too the Fan club has exceeded their participation in charitable deeds and vibrant celebration which reflects their deep admiration for Lee Min-ho. For his birthday as Lee Min-ho is an ambassador for My Pet Doctor and looking at his dedication to protecting children, animals, and the environment through the Promiz charity platform, the Indian Fan base has sponsored the care of a blind dog named Bheema with a donation of 10,000 rupees with the ‘Sarvoham Animal Foundation’. They also contributed another 10,000 rupees to the non-profit animal welfare organization named ‘Animal Matter To Me’ towards building homes for dogs in Mumbai. This shows how profoundly an actor can impact his fans and LeeMinHo Lovers India fandom goes beyond mere admiration by contributing positively to society and forming cross-cultural connections.
Even after the constraints posed by the geographical distances, LeeMinHo Lovers India has overcome them by gifting personalized gifts directly to the actor’s office in Seoul, South Korea. As a gesture of appreciation for the actor, they sent Gulbonda miniature toys, delicious Indian snacks, and a beautiful flower bouquet, all delivered to the office on his birthday. The gifts also included a personalized DIY card and a lovely poem that expressed their love for the actor. Despite being miles apart their efforts exemplify how the fandoms can transcend beyond distance to share their passion.
“LeeMinHo Lovers India – Our fan club, which is dedicated to LeeMinHo, has a wonderful history of organizing donations and charity events in celebration of LeeMin-ho’s special occasions like birthdays and debut anniversaries. Our admiration for LeeMinHo goes beyond his acting talent; he continuously inspires us through his involvement in charitable initiatives, notably through Promiz. His recent role as ambassador for ‘My Pet Doctor’ has particularly moved us, highlighting his love and advocacy for pet dogs. With this inspiration, our club is committed to making a positive impact by supporting causes that protect and care for our furry friends. Together, let’s work towards creating a better world for our beloved fur babies.”
LeeMinHo Lovers India and global fans look forward to the highly anticipated projects the actor is working on. Lee Min-ho has several projects lined up for the year 2024 such as “Ask the Stars” a romantic comedy-drama that is set up in space, Lee Min-ho stars opposite Gong Hyo-jin.
