This time, Aoora (아우라) has introduced a spiritual aspect of himself in contrast to his previous works. He pushed the limits and the ultimate boundaries and reinvented himself through the song Shiva Shivam

Aoora’s Personal Statement on Shiva Shivam

Aoora’s Shiva Shivam was not conceived as a commercial track. It was developed during his stay in India and emerged from a period of introspection in his personal life. He did not approach the hymn as a performance opportunity, but rather as a learning experience. As he states —

“This project taught me that devotion can mean effort.

It can mean discipline.

It can mean facing your own mind honestly.

I am still learning.

And this was part of that journey.”

Aoora has repeatedly stated that the project was not created to claim authority over the tradition but to honour it. He considers himself a student of this process and wants to build a cultural bridge — not appropriate a cultural identity.

BTS: The Making of Shiva Shivam

“Shiva Shivam (Shiv Tandav)” from the album Shiva Shivam: K-Bhakti, was released on the 10th February 2026, as part of Maha Shivaratri celebrations and as a musical tribute to The Hara Hara Mahadev himself.

Produced and composed by the musical duo FRIDAYYY and Aoora, the song brings together global pop and EDM energy with a devotional spirit. Shiva Shivam blends traditional Sanskrit verses from Shiv Tandav Stotram, taken from the public domain, with original English lyrics.

Aoora worked closely with a Sanskrit language coach for phonetic accuracy, to understand the meaning behind each verse, and to avoid altering the essence of the lines.

A Fusion of Devotion and Modern Sound

This spellbinding song begins with Aoora chanting:

Om Namah Shivaya
Om Namah Shivaya”

Adding to the ancient strength of the chant. The words “Shiva Shivam” emerge alongside the background music and rhythmic beats. The production is immersive, and the repetitive rhythmic sections were used to create a meditative trance state, immediately transporting listeners to a faraway mystical place.

As someone who has studied music, this section becomes the highlight of the song, as Aoora sings the ancient Sanskrit verses from the Shiva Tandava Stotram

Jatatavi Galajjala Pravaha Pavitasthale
Galevalambya Lambitam Bhujanga Tungamalikam
Damad Damad Damad Dama Ninada Vadda Marvayam
Chakara Chanda Tandavam
Tanotu Naa Shivah Shivam”

The pounding rhythms and the pulsating drums, combined with Aoora’s evident dedication to embracing the Sanskrit scripture, create a tandava-like intensity and impact that further amplify the sacred atmosphere of the track.

A Seamless Blend of Sanskrit Chants with English Lyrics

This intensified atmosphere turns up a notch when Aoora introduces the English verses —

In The Chaos, You’re The Flame
In The Calm, I Call Your Name
Every Heartbeat Sings
You’re In Me, And I’m In Thee

Fire In My Veins, Light In My Eyes
My Soul Will Fly High
I Dance, I Burn, I Soar
Shiva, You Are My Sky

These lines require no explanation, as they present Lord Shiva as the one and only saviour during the moments of chaos and confusion. The visual narrative, shown through the choreography and the besha, is not about portraying Lord Shiva physically, but about discovering him internally.

It must be said that Aoora has done an intelligent and impressive job by creating a seamless blend of Sanskrit and English verses without losing the divine essence and the message of the song. The next set of Sanskrit chants —

Lalata Chatva Rajvala Dhanan Jaya Sphu Lingabha
Nipita Pancha Sayakam Naman Nilimpa Nayakam
Sudha Mayukha Lekhaya Viraja Mana Shekharam
Maha Kapali Sampade Shiro Jata Lamastu Na

Prafulla Nila Pankaja Prapancha Kali Maprabha
Valambi Kantha Kandali Ruchi Prabaddha Kandharam
Smarachhidam Purachhidam Bhavachhidam Makhachhidam
Gajachhidandha Kachhidam Tamanta Kachhidam Bhaje

Shiva Shivam

There is a subtle beauty to the above lines as the energetic tempo momentarily slows down and then gradually builds its way to the powerful and thunderous climax of the song. The upbeat tempo, the syncopated beats, the resonant drums, along with Aoora chanting the Sanskrit verses, make Shiva Shivam an eternal yet contemporary song that resonates and roars like the waves of an ocean. It rises like a chant carried through fire and pulse.

A Cosmic Experience

Ultimately, Shiva Shivam shines more than just a song; it is a cosmic connection bridging both devotion and modern sound. It is a powerful musical offering not only to Pashupatinath himself, but also to the listening audience.

Aoora creates a track that is both timeless and energetic. The song resonates with divinity like the echoes of temple bells, making Shiva Shivam a spiritual experience in itself. The core message of this song is — “I am in Shiva, and Shiva is within me.”

Since its release, the project has resonated strongly across audiences, particularly for its emotional storytelling and immersive production. Audiences have connected not only with the scale of production but with the vulnerability behind it.
