Seoul is a heaven on earth for a shopaholic. One can experience the amazing cultural surroundings with a tint of the trend altogether at once.  The beauty of Seoul lies in these streets. If you are wondering where you want to go shopping, this article is a perfect guide. Here are the top 5 shopping districts in Seoul.

Myeog-Dong

In 2011-13 Myeong-Dong was the 9^th most expensive shopping street around the globe. It is famous for the 2 historic sites, the Myeong-dong Cathedral and the Nanta theatre. It is a popular area for youngsters and tourists as a Centre of fashion and sight-seeing. Myeong-Dong festival is held twice a year, during the spring (March-April) and autumn (September) season is another tourist attraction.

The shops range from mid to high-priced products, including international brands like Zara, H&M and Forever21. The district is popular for the Korean cosmetics and large shopping centres like the Lotte Department store. The official biggest SM town pop store is also located in Myeong-Dong next to the famous Lotte Department store. 

Namdaemun

Located next to the “Great South Gate”, Namdaemun is one of the largest traditional markets. It is the oldest and the largest market, which surely justifies that old is gold. The true taste of Korea lies in these streets. It is known for its diverse and expansive inventory of wares.

This area functions as a wholesale market where you get goods at affordable prices. The Market is on the Seoul list of Asia’s 10 greatest street food cities. So, grab your chopsticks and get ready for a mouth-watering tour at the Namdaemun market. 

Dongdaemun

One of the most visited districts, Dongdaemun, was designated to be the “Special Tourist Zone” in 2002. It is a perfect place to buy goods which are affordable and of good quality. It is a commercial district with more than 10 shopping malls, each with more than 100 stores inside.

It is popular for fabric, clothing, food and cosmetics. Dongdaemun Design Plaza is a popular place with an attractive Rose garden. The garden has about 25,550 LED roses that light up around sunset, attracting the locals and tourists.

Hongdae

Being near a university, Hongdae has a large youth population. It is known for its urban art and indie music. We can call Hongdae the Korean trend setter, as it is famous for Korean fashion. Being in a youthful surrounding, it provides everything at affordable prices. There are famous Bubble tea stores which are worth visiting.

Hongdae is a vibrant hub filled with Nore Bang, Korean karaoke spots that are essential for any party. After bingeing K-Dramas, it’s clear that a night out without karaoke is just incomplete. Insa-Dong

Back in the days, it was the largest market for antiques and artwork in Korea. Leading us to a traditional surrounding, Insa-Dong is a perfect place to experience the culture of Korea. It is a well-known traditional street amongst the locals and foreigners as well.

It represents the culture of the past and of the present. It is a modern street with a historical atmosphere. Ssamziegil is a famous mall where you will be taken back to the Joseon era with amazing handicrafts.  The mall gives you an amazing, extraordinary sky view from the sky garden on the top.

The streets lead us to traditional tea houses and street food scenes, where you will experience another unique tradition of Korea. The museums and royal residences add up, making Insa-Dong a beauty that all tourists want to visit.

Tongmungwan, the oldest bookstore famous for old books and documents is located in Insa-Dong. Kyung-In art gallery, the oldest tea house also provides us an amazing view of the past.  Visiting this traditional district is must on your first trip to Korea!

Well these are just a few, Seoul is full of wonderful places! It is surely a shopper’s paradise. Being a drama lover I have always wanted to visit these amazing places and try those mouth-watering cuisines.
