The Celebration of 50 Years of India-Korea Diplomatic Relations: All India Inter-SAI Taekwondo Championship started on 24th February 2023 at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Delhi. The event was hosted by the Korean Culture Centre India, The Sports Authority of India, and the Korea National Sports University.

The opening ceremony started with a Korean pop group dance performance and then chief guest Sports Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi started the lamp ceremony with The Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Anurag Thakur, and the guest of honour Mr. Yong-gyu Ahn, president of Korea National Sports University.

After that cultural performance begins with a Taekwondo performance where Taekwondo athletes showed various remarkable Taekwondo moves and performances. The program continued with one of India’s traditional sports Malkhambh which was performed by the National level Malkhambh athletes. Next was the cultural program that was performed by some school students where they performed Rajasthani folk songs and Bhangra to show the diversity of India. After that, there was an astonishing Korean traditional dance performance held, and then at last there was a K-pop group dance performance held on Korea’s most popular K-pop bands; BlackPink and BTS’s songs.
The audience was cheering and waving flags of India and Korea as they were amazed to see the various remarkable cultural programs of India and Korea. After the cultural program 2nd and 3rd days were the championship day. The Taekwondo championship was divided into two categories: Poomsae and Kyorugi.
The Poomsae category championship was open to the public. And it was free for the audience, on the other hand, the Kyorugi category was according to its division and it was open to SAI-registered athletes only.

Overall Experience
Covering this event on behalf of Hallyuism and attending it was a really amazing experience for me as a K-culture enthusiast. I had a great time watching all the cultural and sports performances. On 26th February the championship ended and this was how India-Korea strengthened their diplomatic relations that have been cemented over 50 years now.
At 1st I wanna say happy 50 years to both of us. I can feel how much enjoyable the event was just by reading this . Really happy to hear that both of the countries representing their own cultures together in one place. I wanna go see this in person someday to experience some great things and hope the bond between both of the countries will be like this forever🇮🇳♥️🇰🇷
