Interviewed and Edited by: Jasmine Khan, Dubai
Step into the world of delicate craftsmanship where South Korea’s sophistication meets India’s elegance. Today, we are introducing you to an underrated venture @hello.summeraccessories that is redefining everyday luxury through its thoughtfully curated sterling silver collection sourced from Korea. Behind this brand is Miss Aishwarya Vyas, who noticed a void in India’s jewelry market – the absence of minimal yet striking contemporary pieces that speak to the modern aesthetic.
While the market overflowed with traditional and occasional jewelry and accessories, she envisioned something different – authentic Korean sterling silver pieces – designed and sourced directly from South Korea that could be adorned on both your Monday meetings and Sunday brunches. At Hallyuism, we got an opportunity to interview Miss Aishwarya, to talk more about her brand, how she addresses the market gaps with unique casual pieces, and discuss her sourcing process, to ensure high quality through personal selection. Read ahead to know more:
Please briefly introduce yourself and your business.
My business is all about dainty sterling silver jewelry designed and made in Korea.
What inspired you to start a business specializing in Korean imported jewelry?
I personally love silver jewelry and wear it all the time. I could see there was a lack of unique designs with a bit of a modern touch that you can even wear casually here and that’s what led me to start my silver jewellery brand. I could see the designs here were slightly repetitive and traditional (not completely but to a certain extent) and there came a point where I couldn’t see anything new that would catch my eye.
What types of jewelry do you offer in your collection?
Rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets are what I have in my collection at the moment.
What are some current trends in Korean jewelry that customers should look out for?
Sparkle, bows, minimal gemstone pieces. Gemstones are all the rage in Korea at the moment.
What is your average price range for your jewelry?
The price ranges from 750-3500 at the moment.
Could you tell us something about your most popular pieces?
I absolutely can’t pick one ( everything is just too pretty).
How do you stay updated with the latest trends in Korean jewelry?
I am constantly on the lookout for the Korean market and in contact with my team and designers in Korea.
How do you ensure the quality and authenticity of the jewelry you import?
I don’t get my jewelry in mass quantities. I source each piece individually and do a quality check for every piece in my collection. If I see the slightest fault, I will not upload it. I also try to show the 925 mark on my pieces when I upload the videos on Instagram.
Can you share more about your sourcing process and the artisans or suppliers you work with?
I am someone who believes in actually going somewhere and getting things that I like after I’ve seen them in person. So I do meet everyone in person and then move forward with sourcing the jewelry pieces. Whenever I am in Korea, I meet them multiple times, try the pieces myself and if I feel satisfied I’ll add that piece to the collection.
Are there any certifications or standards that your jewelry meets?
Silver jewelry anywhere in the world has a 925 stamping on it. Each and every piece of my jewelry also has a 925 stamping to make sure it’s silver. Whenever someone places an order I also click pictures again and show them exactly where the stamp is on that particular piece so that they also know about it.
Any memorable feedback that you received from customers about your jewelry?
I’ve sent out a few orders in these past months and they all have absolutely loved the jewelry design and the quality and really appreciate it.
What is your personal favourite piece of jewellery in your collection, and why?
Everything is so pretty I can’t decide!
Can you share a memorable story or experience related to your business?
There was this one customer who wanted to get things for her sister and she spent a really big amount in one go. As a small business, this was my first big order so I’ll always remember it.
What are the challenges you faced running a small business selling Korean jewelry and accessories in India? And how did you overcome them?
I think the biggest challenge I’m still facing is reaching out to a better audience and telling them about my silver jewelry. I’ve seen so many people sell ridiculous stuff in the name of “Korea made” even when it’s not. Another issue is I’ve seen people spend thousands of rupees on non-silver jewelry that might only last them a while but they don’t really want to spend on something that’s real and authentic and can last them for years.
Do you have any plans to expand your product line or introduce new styles?
I’m always on the lookout for new styles so hopefully, in the future, I’ll have a lot more to offer.
We hope you like this interview with @hello.summeraccessories (To place your order visit their Instagram and DM them). Do tell us in the comments which is your favorite piece from their collection!
