Writer: Mansi Bisht (Delhi, India)

It’s that time of year again, when watching K-dramas on Netflix, wrapped in your blanket, feels like the perfect way to escape your worries. Mentioned below are some of the best K-dramas currently available on Netflix:

BUSINESS PROPOSAL

The chemistry of Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong was swoony, cute, and just perfect for this office romance drama. Shin Ha-ri (Kim Se-jeong) disguises herself as her friend to meet her prospective suitor. Things go awry when the suitor turns out to be Ha-ri’s CEO, Kang Tae-moo (Ahn Hyo-seop). The situation worsens when Kang Tae-moo unexpectedly announces that he will marry her.

It is a fun, light-hearted romantic comedy. The fans also adore Kim Min-kyu as Cha Sun-hoon and Seol In-ah as Jin Young-seo for their chemistry.

One of the most famous dialogues from the drama that would push you to watch it is by Kang Tae-moo, “Do you know what my love and this credit card have in common? They both have no limit. There is no limit at all.”

If you want a cozy drama to watch under your blankets, Business Proposal would be the right choice.

IT’S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY

This is not your regular romance drama, but it is definitely something to watch at least once. The story follows the healing journey of an antisocial children’s book author, Ko Moon-young (Seo Yea-ji); a psychiatric hospital employee, Moon Gang-tae (Kim Soo-hyun); and his autistic older brother, Moon Sang-tae (Oh Jung-se).

It was one of the trending shows of 2020. Character growth occurs throughout the episodes, and you will not feel any rush to complete the story. Every character has its own shortcomings, and that is what makes them even more charming and relatable. The drama also deals with mental health since it is mainly set against the backdrop of a psychiatric hospital.

One of the best dialogues in the drama that has stayed with me for a long time is, “Your body is honest. When you are in physical pain, you cry. But the heart is a liar. It stays quiet even when it’s hurting. Then, when you are asleep, you finally weep and whimper like a dog.”

HOMETOWN CHA CHA CHA

The picturesque beauty of Gongjin immediately draws the viewer in, and the pairing of Kim Seon-ho and Shin Min-a completes the puzzle, making it the most aesthetically pleasing romance drama available on Netflix.

The dentist, Yoon Hye-jin, played by Shin Min-a, relocates to the seaside town of Gongjin due to personal issues, and there she meets a handyman who loves to help his neighbors, Hong Du-sik, played by Kim Seon-ho. Their meeting brings conflict, love, healing, and community to the forefront. The plot is sweet and simple, never straying too far from the core of togetherness and community.

A dialogue by Hong Du-sik, “Life isn’t fair for all of us. Some spend their whole lives on unpaved roads, while some run at full speed only to reach the edge of a cliff,” shows how life is not the same for everyone, and choosing to be kind to each other is very important. It can warm you up with the innocence and naivety of the characters.

The drama will make you believe that to solve any of your problems, all you need to do is pack your bag and move to the countryside. And well, it might be true.

RUN ON

The drama features Im Si-wan as Kim Seon-gyeom, a track star who begins to listen to his heart when a film translator, Oh Mi-joo, played by Shin Se-kyung, enters his life.

The main themes that revolve around this drama are acceptance, belonging, and finding the purpose of life. The title Run On is significant on many levels after watching the drama, since it represents track athletes literally running, characters running towards their dreams, sometimes running away from their family or problems, and other times running towards each other or away from each other. They are in a constant act of running and stop when they find each other in front of them.

As the story unfolds, Kim Seon-gyeom realizes, “Of all the things I’ve loved, why have I never loved myself?” and this is the core of this drama.

OUR BELOVED SUMMER

This K-Drama is the perfect example of an enemies-to-lovers trope. Two former high school lovers, Kook Yeon-soo (Kim Da-mi) and Choi Ung (Choi Woo-shik), reunite years later when their old high school documentary unexpectedly goes viral.

The drama brings a rush of emotions similar to our youthful romantic encounters. The cast’s performances elevate the storyline, and as a viewer, you will find yourself rooting for both characters and wishing they would give love another chance.

A dialogue by Choi Ung captures the essence of the story: “Everyone has unforgettable memories from a certain year of their life. They cherish those memories so much that it lasts a lifetime.”

It is a feel-good, second-chance at love kind of drama – perfect for a cozy watch.

All of them are such solid picks, but Business Proposal is hands down my favorite. I’ve watched all of these, and honestly nothing beats the fun, flirty chaos and swoony chemistry of Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong. It’s the kind of drama you can rewatch anytime and still feel butterflies. Definitely my comfort K-drama from this list

  2. Gouri says:

This is a solid comfort list, but definitely a safe and predictable one. Business Proposal is fun and rewatchable, yet very light and fantasy-driven, while Our Beloved Summer feels far more real and emotionally grounded. I liked how the article highlighted the depth of It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and Run On, but I wish it included at least one less mainstream pick. Great for beginners — now I’m ready for bolder recommendations.

  3. Moumita Mondal says:

One should definitely watch Business Proposal for its perfect mix of romance and humor. It’s fast-paced, has lovable characters, and never feels dragged, making it a great comfort drama

This list beautifully shows how K-dramas balance light romance with deeper emotional themes. From the playful charm of Business Proposal to the mental health conversations in It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, each drama reflects different sides of Korean storytelling. It’s interesting how community, healing, and self-love remain central across such diverse genres.

This is clearly one of my favorite articles so far! Business Proposal is truly a must‑watch for every K‑drama fan- oh I loved it. Right now, I’m watching Hometown Cha Cha Cha and enjoying every bit of it! I’ve always dreamed of living away from the city, far from technology, crowds, and constant work. I might not be as skilled as Hong Dusik, but I know that kind of life would be fun-the idea of helping others and neighbors living like one big family feels like a dream come true.
Our Beloved Summer is another beautiful drama. I had to pause it last year because of exams, but now it feels like the perfect time to go back to it. Then my next watch is definitely going to be Run On. That line-‘Of all the things I’ve loved, why have I never loved myself?’-is stuck with me now. It’s such a powerful reminder of how K‑dramas can touch us deeply.

What a perfect list of comfort watches! As someone who has seen all five of these dramas, I can safely say this article captures exactly why they are so beloved. While I adore the lighthearted ‘Business Proposal’ and the deep healing journey in ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,’ ‘Our Beloved Summer’ remains my absolute favorite. There is something so refreshing about the OST and the realistic way it portrays a second chance at love. Mansi did an incredible job selecting such iconic quotes—the line from ‘Run On’ about learning to love oneself is a powerful reminder for everyone. This article is a great guide for both new fans and those looking to rewatch a classic. Excellent work by the writer and the editor, Divya!”
