In the past few years, K-pop Girl groups have gained immense recognition on international platforms be it VMAs, AMAs, or Billboard Hot Songs. Groups like BLACKPINK, TWICE, G-IDLE, NEW JEANS and FIFTY FIFTY have gained recognition.

In contrast, none of the groups has gained much recognition, just like Mamamoo for their fashion sense, Challenging outlook of Traditional Korean Beauty standards, and as well as breaking of Gender Stereotypes. Mamamoo is a K-pop girl group that debuted under Rainbow Bridge World Company in the year 2014.
The girl group consisted of 4 members named: Wheein, Moonbyul, Hwasa, and Solar. All the members of the group are known for their exceptional talent in covering multiple and several music genres, be it jazz, retro, R&B, emotional ballads, or contemporary hip-hop, you name it, and they would do it.

Mamamoo has received several awards such as “Golden Disk Award, Mnet Asian Music Award, Seoul Music Awards & Gaon Chart Music Award”. The group has come up with studio albums, several compilation albums, extended plays, singles, promotional singles, and MVs.

Hip was released on November 14th, 2019. It consists of music genres such as hip-hop and R&B. The lyrics of the songs show the confidence one should have in themselves and talk about prioritizing individuality and loving ourselves. This message was very gracefully conveyed by the members of the group because of the catchy beats and strong vocals.

AYA was released on November 03rd, 2020, under the Album- Travel. The word AYA here is a war cry for the females who want to break free from the shackles of the societies who want them to live under their self–made rules and traditions.

The MV and the choreography are so strong that it show the feminist power at its height where the group members have been shown with dynamic and dominating personalities, the one to rule the world. The song celebrates freedom from the norms and shows how one should not hold back oneself in their past and move further with sheer determination.
This is yet another song where Mamamoo has shown their musical versatility, strong vocals, and catchy melodies. Mamamoo has thus once more delivered such a great message efficiently.

Dingga was released on November 03rd 2020, under the Album- Travel but was then later added to Travel Japan Edition on 3rd February 2021. As the name suggests, Dingga is a figure of speech phrase which is the onomatopoeia of guitar strumming which further means to play around and enjoy life.

The song’s lyrics convey to be young, wild, and free. It asks each of us to live our lives to the fullest and enjoy each part of our lives. It further asks us to leave out our daily schedule for once and go out enjoy ourselves with friends, eat ice creams, and drink like fish. The song’s dynamic chorus and easy choreography compel one to leave everything behind and dance. Its cheerful melody lightens up the mood.

I Miss You was released on January 29th, 2016, as a single under the Album Melting. I miss you as the name of the song is dedicated to the ones whom we miss a lot and maybe we failed to protect and are no longer with us.

Egoistic was released on July 16th, 2018, under a mini album named Red Moon. Egoistic is a Latin–infused rhythmic song that talks about freedom and self–empowerment. The lyrics of the song ask one to leave out toxic relationships and know your self – worth.

It asks to move out of the places you are not welcome and work for a positive self–empowerment with full determination. It mentions that freedom from such relationships or people can open several great paths ahead of us. Although after 12 years of Debut as Mamamoo, the Group members still consider them a part of the group irrespective of the fact that they have withdrawn their contracts with the company and have signed up with different companies.
