Riya Chaudhary, Delhi: K-Pop or Korean Pop is a music genre that originated in South Korea. It consists of a variety of popular music styles that covers mostly dance-pop, pop ballad, electronic, rock, hip-hop, R&B, etc. In India, the spread of Korean Wave, also known as Hallyu Wave, began in the early 2000s in the North East region and now it is spreading rapidly all over the country. By the persistent efforts of Korean Cultural Centre India, K-pop has marked its popularity and success in India through K-POP INDIA CONTEST, which takes place every year since 2013.

One of the major reasons behind the same is Hallyu/Korean Wave, due to which the Korean entertainment and the tourism industry have observed a tremendous boom.
The East Asian Country that we know as South Korea, is known as Hanguk in Korean and officially referred to as the Republic of Korea i.e. Daehan Minguk. The country constitutes the southern part of the Korean peninsula and shares one of the most heavily militarized borders with North Korea.
