Cast

Playing the role of a young shy assistant chef, who has a secret crush on the head chef of the kitchen, Kang Sun-woo played by Jo Jung-suk, is Park Bo-young as Na Bong-sun who is later possessed by a virgin ghost named Shin Soon-ae played by Kim Seul-gi. This drama was later remade in Thai under the same name in the year 2018.

Plot

The storyline revolves around the mysterious death of the ghost Shin Soon-ae and the romance between Na Bong-sun and chef Kang Sun-woo. The drama starts off with light comedy and shows you an insight into the life of shy Na Bong-sun who is constantly troubled with the fact that she can see ghosts until she is ‘accidently’ possessed by the bubbly ghost Shin Soon-ae who is on run from a shaman and her life turns upside down. The shaman, a motherly figure to the ghost, who looks after her and wishes for her best, played by Lee Jeong-eun, is a heart-winning character. The sudden boost of confidence and the new personality as the ghost possess the shy, timid, Bong-sun; catches the eye of her forever secret crush. But as the drama continues, the mystery around the death of Shin Soon-ae slowly reveals; weaving a perfect story between the incidents around the three main characters Na Bong-sun, Kang Sun-woo and Shin Soon-ae. The character of chef Kang Sun-woo’s sister is played by Shin Hye-sun, a former ballerina, who lost her legs to a hit and run case and is married to the antagonist of the drama, Choi Sung-jae who is played by Lim Ju-hwan. The kitchen scenes with the whole team of chefs played by Kang Ki-young, Oh Eui-shik, Choi Min-chul and Kwak Si-yang is a perfect package of laughter making the drama a good-shot for comedy. The side characters have played their role to the point and are worthy of appreciation.

Why you should watch this?

There’s a notable chemistry between the characters Na Bong-sun and Kang Sun-woo but, the romance between Shin Soon-ae and Kang Sun-woo is also a melting point for many. The friendship between the female leads Bong-sun and Soon-ae is also heart warming. The friendship between the shaman and chef Kang Sun-woo’s mother, played by Eun Kyung-shin, is one of the sweetest duo in the drama. What catches the attention as a viewer is the amazing acting skills of Park Bo-young who is constantly switching between two complete different personalities and how as an actor she has brought justice to the role. Her acting is the most notable point of the whole drama. The acting skills of Lim Ju-hwan as a police officer is also praiseworthy who in the beginning has the heart of the viewers but at the end has them feeling the exact opposite for him.

Although the drama is a bit predictable and has an easily followable story line, it doesn’t disappoint you and the credits for it are to the actors for the engaging acting and the skilled directing. The drama has a perfect ending with the characters finding their happiness and the viewers feeling a sense of satisfaction. With the perfect blend of comedy, romance and thrill , ‘Oh My Ghost’ is worth the watch.
