Milky’s musical journey began at the age of 8 when he started taking classical piano lessons. However, it was his move to the United States to attend Amherst College that truly kickstarted his career as a musician. During his time at college, Milky began releasing music on Soundcloud, experimenting with different styles and honing his craft. Over time, he developed a style that ranges from lo-fi to indie to R&B, with mellow, chill tracks that embody the rise of Gen-Z bedroom pop genres.

Now with dozens of singles and millions of streams, Milky Day has developed his musicality and established himself in the R&B space globally. Passionate about collaboration, Milky’s early collaborations with Frad and Hayne, both lo-fi artists, helped him break into the lo-fi and K-indie scene. He then started working with Elijah Lee, a fellow Korean living in New Zealand, on two songs that performed well on streaming platforms. His collaboration with Gareth.T on the sweet summery-vibe track “Youuu” has garnered over 5 million plays on Spotify. Milky also worked with indie R&B artist Jimmy Brown on a couple of tracks, “Dark Warm” and “Am I Different,” and appeared on one of Jimmy’s tracks, “A Favor.”

With several popular tracks under his belt, including:
- “You’ll Be Alright”
- “Fool”
- “Take it Slow”
- “Youuu”
He outlines his musical timeline as beginning with lo-fi, moving towards indie, and settling into R&B as of late. Some of Milky’s earliest collaborations were with Frad and Hayne (on various songs) who are both lo-fi artists, and those projects helped Milky break into the lo-fi and K-indie scene. Soon after, Milky started working with Elijah Lee, a fellow Korean living in New Zealand, on two songs (“How You Been” and “Paradise) which both performed well on streaming platforms.
Currently with 5 million plays on Spotify, “Youuu” is a sweet summery-vibe collaboration track Milky did with Gareth.T, an artist under Warner Music. In 2022, Milky worked with Jimmy Brown, a popular indie R&B artist on a couple of tracks (“Dark Warm” and “Am I Different”), and he appeared on one of Jimmy’s tracks, “A Favor.” Going forward, he’s interested in exploring more electronic elements while remaining in the R&B sphere. Milky has released several popular tracks, including “You’ll Be Alright” and “Take it Slow,” which have gained significant traction on streaming platforms, with over 47 million combined plays on Spotify alone.
In 2023, he plans to release a new EP and perform an opening for Canadian-Korean artist Junny and is set to embark on his own worldwide tour, marking a significant milestone in his career.
