With the smashing English single, a ubiquitous megahit “Butter”, BTS has achieved an unprecedented feat for a K-pop act. Since its release on 21st May 2021, the single has been one of the hottest summer songs.

Before starting, I suggest you have some cold water beside you because it might be too hot to handle. As the teaser was out, we could not resist bopping our heads while the same goes on with the song. Butter falls under the genre of dancing pop; it starts with gentle beats that make your head shake, and as every second passes by, your whole body will start to grove on the beats. The music is extremely catchy and easygoing.

MV Interpretation

The MV starts with a white screen with Jung Kook popping in and slaying in a black suit. He almost shook all the fandom with his eyebrow piercing that effectuates the look that lives in our mind rent-free. His vocals are so smooth that leave us tripping in exhilaration. Then comes our stunner V. It’s pretty hard to escape from his moves and charms. Whether his expression or voice, he never fails to flutter my heart. After Jung Kook and V, here comes our worldwide handsome Jin, showing his glow and melting us with his vocals. Over the years, the tremendous change we have witnessed in Jin’s vocals is outstanding. Now with our three vocal kings slaying, we get a glimpse of the whole group. As soon as the chorus starts the colours are back on the screen. It is sung by Jung Kook, V, and our fourth vocal king Jimin. Jimin looks like an angel; he has chosen multicoloured hair that he has pulled off gracefully. His voice is going to boost your serotonin level for sure.

In the second verse, we can see an elevator with a red background with V in an orange suit. Jin, on the other hand, is giving the 90s mafia feel in white and brown shades. By far, the visuals have been a treat to watch. We can see Jimin being an MC and introducing BTS. Now, they are clad in comfortable hoodies and deliver an awe-inspiring dance performance that captivates the attention.

After the end of the second chorus, it’s time for the much-awaited dance break. We can see all the members turning the elevator into their dance floor one by one with their freestyle dancing. Since it’s about dance, it would not be fair without giving special appreciation to our j-hope. The energy that he has got in his moves is worth watching.

With the dance break coming to an end, our Rap line took over with SUGA leading the way. His rap is stuck in my head. Until we heard this rap many of us were not aware that besides having a good boy, we also have a nice guy in this band. Confused? Well, you might need some help from A.R.M.Ys to understand this or maybe you will when you turn into an A.R.M.Y. It’s time for our president RM who is making his way “A.R.M.Y”, while sporting his pink hair. And lastly, it’s our hope j-hope who added fuel to the fire ignited by others. To be honest, I missed j-hope a bit in the whole MV, but the ending more than made up for it. The sets throughout the MV are amazing, but the last one is jaw-dropping.

This was such a warm read. You captured the fun and energy of Butter without overdoing it, and it reminds me why the song still feels so refreshing even years later. It’s light, upbeat, and honestly just comforting to go back to. Thanks for putting those feelings into words so neatly.

Butter is such a catchy song with great and smooth choreography. Such a fun filled summer song and probably the second all english single released by BTS.
From chorus to bridge, it has great beats and rhythm. One of my favourites of their english singles.
