Top 5 Places In South Korea To Experience Spring

Kimi Kar, Agartala, Tripura

Winter melts and spring takes over, splashing the cities and the countryside with brilliant colours and fragrant scents. While we all wait with bated breath for the forecasts and the festivals, get a head start on your travel plans with these top tips for savouring spring in South Korea. Let’s not wait further and jump into our 5 first-class destinations in South Korea:

JEJU ISLAND

Thanks to a warmer climate, we can enjoy spring as well as summer by welcoming the Cherry blossoms and exploring the beach which is one of the main attractions of this island. Itā€™s the largest island in South Korea, it is known for its tourism so there are plenty of accommodation options on every part of the island which keeps costs low in the summer you can swim and take boat rides. Visiting the Jeju beaches is a must when you are travelling to South Korea.

JINHAE

Jinhae is a district in Changwon city, to the west of Busan. It is a sleepy naval town thatā€™s home to the biggest cherry blossom festival in South Korea. Every spring, it hosts South Koreaā€™s biggest cherry blossom festival ā€“ millions of people come together to see 300,000 cherry trees bloom and enjoy the festivalā€™s parades and carnival stalls. These cherry blossoms attract an estimated 1 million tourists to Jinhae every year. The festival is officially known as Gunhangjae (źµ°ķ•ģ œ), or Naval Port Festival. Due to the spectacular views, it attracts a huge amount of spectators to enjoy the view and festival. Everything that you see will be PINK!

GYEONGJU

Time travels to South Koreaā€™s magnificent ancient kingdom and learns about the countryā€™s history and culture underneath a canopy of pink blooms. Youā€™ll find the best blooms along the Daereungwon stonewall walkway, the Heungmuro cherry blossom road, the Wolseong Palace cherry tree forest, and the Bomun Tourist Complex. Gyeongju is referred to as ā€œthe museum without wallsā€ because everywhere you turn you can find another site with historical relevance to see. The city has more tombs, temples, pagodas, palace ruins, and other historical artifacts than any other place in Korea. Staying in a traditional Hanok house while visiting Gyeongju is a must. These Hanok houses were built in 2015 and each room features a private bathroom.Ā

YEOUIDO

By mid-April, the cherry blossoms unravel their beauty in Seoul. While most of the capital pretty much gets decked in pink, head to Yeouido Island in central Seoul to bask in the cityā€™s most beautiful blooms. Make sure to walk along Yunjunro street behind the National Assembly Building to see the cityā€™s loveliest cherry blossom street, as well as azaleas, forsythia, and other spring flowers in full bloom. Along with the cherry blossom festival, Yeouido is especially famous for its ā€œSeoul International Fireworks Festival” which is held on every Saturday in October at Hangang Park. If you are visiting Yeouido make sure to attend the firework festival!

SEOKCHON LAKE

Another amazing spot to see cherry blossoms in Seoul is Seokchon Lake. While a great place to visit anytime you need respite from Seoulā€™s chaos, Seokchon Lake is especially beautiful during spring. Cherry trees line the lake park, making the perfect backdrop for a stroll. Go here with a mat and a picnic basket for a relaxing afternoon. Seokchon Lake Park in Songpa District, Seoul, South Korea includes Seokchon Lake and Lotte World’s Magic Island which is one of the fun tourist spots to have an amazing time! Not to mention the famous Seokchon CafĆ© street having 12 cafĆ©s side by side, one can enjoy the street busking without any fear of being hungry as the food here is tasty. But thatā€™s not the end of the fun! Seokchon Lake has many festivals, including the Cherry Blossom Festival, Deciduous Street Festival, and the Seokchon Lake Concert. These festivals show many attractive parts of Seokchon Lake.

These 5 spots are my favourites to enjoy the scenic beauty of spring! I hope this small gist can help you in your visit to South Korea!
