K-Press Release: Big Ocean Turns an Unexpected Goodbye Into a Love Letter With New Single “Make It up to You”

Big Ocean, the world’s first deaf K-pop idol group, released their new digital single “Make It Up to You” on May 19. Written as a direct message to the fans they could not reach when their Europe Tour 2026 was unexpectedly cancelled, the track transforms distance and disappointment into something warmer: a promise, and a countdown to reunion.

With “Make it up to you,” the group channels the unspoken weight of that missed meeting into a love letter — one addressed not just to Europe, but to every fan who has ever waited. Rather than let that distance speak for itself, Big Ocean did what they do best and turned it into music.

On May 17, Big Ocean turned that promise into action with a private online concert held exclusively for Europe Tour 2026 ticket holders. Streamed at 3 PM CEST, the closed-door performance was conceived as a way to meet the fans the cancelled tour had left waiting finally — and the group used the occasion to unveil “Make It Up to You” for the very first time. The surprise debut, performed in front of the audience the song was written for, drew an emotional response from PADO across every connected city, two days ahead of the single’s official release.

The single reunites Big Ocean with Grammy Award-winning producer Frankie Biggz, continuing the creative partnership that shaped their third mini album, THE GREATEST BATTLE. Rooted in 1970s disco-funk and modern city-pop, the track opens with a lyrical piano melody before expanding into a full live-band sound driven by rhythmic slap bass, syncopated guitar, and shimmering synth.

Members Jiseok, PJ, and Chanyeon participated directly in writing the lyrics, and their personal touch is felt throughout. The cities they couldn’t reach are called out by name, with local-language phrases woven in so that fans across each country hear their own corner of the world reflected back at them. What could have been a missed connection becomes, in Big Ocean’s hands, one of their most personal releases yet.

Big Ocean shared,

We couldn’t be there in person, but we never stopped thinking about you. This song is our way of saying — we’re coming back, and we’ll make it up to you.
