Diya Jain, Delhi: The world offers an endless amount of fresh and breathtaking art in the form of movies, films, songs, paintings, and much more. But we often find ourselves cocooned in our world, to an extent that the majority of cultures remain alien to the average individual. Even in the case of diverse musical cultures, as a fan of K-pop, I’m often asked the reason to choose and appreciate the music I listen to. After all, it is in Korean, they say. But the beautiful thing about music that most fail to notice is that one does not need to understand the language in order to enjoy it.
Ashley Kumar, Delhi: I have been a K-pop enthusiast for years, but I had never dreamt that I would see K-pop artists perform live in my country. But this dream came true when VAV came to India for a series of concerts and fan meets starting May 31, 2019.
Yashi Priya, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Bangtan Sonyeondan, widely popular as BTS, is a seven-member boy band from South Korea that debuted in 2013 with their lead single ‘No More Dream’ from the album 2 Cool 4 Skool. The artists were under Big Hit Entertainment, a small company with humble beginnings. As the name of the group suggests, the septet desire “to be resistant to bullets, so it means to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that are aimed at the adolescents like bullets, to preserve the values and ideal of today’s adolescents.”

The album consists of 12 tracks with ‘Tell Me’ being the title track.
Sakina Mustansir, Hyderabad, Telangana: BTS member Park Ji-min, better known as Jimin, released ‘Promise’ (약속) on December 31, 2018, on SoundCloud. Ashley Kumar, Delhi: Even if you don’t stan or don’t know much about second-generation K-pop groups, you would have definitely heard about Super Junior’s Kim Hee-chul. He is known as one of the main rappers in Super Junior and is a vocalist as well. He might be one of the quieter ones on stage, but when it comes to variety shows, Hee-chul conquers all. Even big professional comedians like Kang Ho-dong and Lee Soo-geun fail before his quick-witted and hilarious comebacks.
Susmita Sanyal, Kolkata, West Bengal: ‘Yours’ is a much-awaited track that released on May 12, 2020. It had created quite a buzz ever since the collaboration was announced. The subsequent unveiling of the teasers only added to the fervour.
