The Fourth Generation of K-Pop: The Next Level

Chhavi Sharma, Surat, Gujarat: Roughly starting from 2018, the K-pop industry saw the emergence of the fourth generation of K-Pop. Being influenced by their seniors, the fourth generation artists have not disappointed either. Instead, they have left no stone unturned to prove themselves in terms of singing, choreography and concepts. Groups like Ateez, Stray Kids, TXT, Treasure, ENHYPEN, CRAVITY, and The Boyz have already climbed their way up to become one of the top boy groups of this generation. ITZY, Loona, (G)I-DLE, and Everglow are some of the top girl groups dominating this generation along with Aespa and Weeekly.

K-SONG REVIEW: 외계인 (Alien) by HAN JISUNG (Stray Kids)

Aanchal Tekriwal, Godda, Jharkhand: Stray Kids member Han Ji-sung, better known as HAN, released a solo track 외계인 (Alien) on 29th January, 2021, on YouTube. This track was written and composed by Han and his fellow Stray Kids member, Bang Chan. It is a comforting song with fairly simple enthralled instrumental music complemented with some drums, some guitar and a little bit of piano in such a way that the lyrics and vocal melodies could resonate deeply and directly with the listener’s heart. The essence of this song is melancholically beautiful and the loneliness most people experience can be felt.

Popular K-Pop Sub-units

Mehak Sharma, New Delhi: As K-Pop fans, we love to see our favourites collaborating with different artists which not only helps them to gain more attention but also increases the scope of showcasing their individual styles. Moreover, the excitement doubles when they team up with members to form a sub-unit. The list of sub-units is incomplete without mentioning the legendary boy group Super Junior. The very first official sub-unit in K-Pop was Super Junior: K.R.Y comprising Kyu-hyun, Ryeo-wook, Yesung, that debuted in 2006 by releasing two original songs titled as The Night Chicago Died and The One I Love. Let’s take a look at some of the popular sub-units of K-Pop groups.

K-Album Review: Day 6- The Book of Us: The Demon

Gauran Sharma, New Delhi: DAY6, a 5 members group, comprising of Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon under JYP Entertainment; released the mini-album ‘The Book of Us: The Demon’ on May 11, 2020, which is their latest addition to their ‘Book of Us’ series. Every My Day; their fandom; knows that DAY6 has a discography that can never disappoint, but this time, this album just hits too close to home. Listening to the album for the first time was a phenomenal experience for me because every song was beautiful in its own way. It felt like the calm before a rollercoaster ride starts and the thrill after it speeds up with all its ups and downs. Although the songs vary in genres, the overall theme of the album is “conflict of heart”.
